RACE NIGHT
We hold a Race night at Longford Greyhound Track in April to raise badly needed funds for 2004. Tickets costing €6 each each are available from any committee member. We are also seeking sponsorship of races, dogs etc and would appreciate any support that can be given.

RESIDENTIAL COMMITTEES

BIRD BOXES
We noticed new bird boxes along the Canal which are very welcome. We encourage people to erect bird boxes and let us know about them. The existence of these around the town (particularly in schools) promotes environmental awareness and gives rise to extra marks for Longford in the National Tidy Towns competition.

CANAL LITTER
The level of litter in one short stretch of the canal near town is very disappointing. A long term solution to tackling this continuing problem (arising from people drinking in the area) is necessary. As well as appealing to the statutory agencies, we also call on people to challenge this behaviour and report it to the Gardai and Litter Warden (043 46474).
