NEW RESIDENTIAL COMMITTEES
Please contact us if you are interested in helping in your own area, even in a modest way. Your help can take many forms. For example, it might involve gardening, flowers, wildlife, weeding, forming an action group, arranging a bin or simply dealing with some issue that concerns you - anything which might make your area a more pleasant place to live. We are forming a sub committee to focus this year on providing support to new and existing residential groups who want to improve their own areas. Let us know how we can help.

CIGARETTE BINS
We have organised the purchase of a number of bins dedicated to cigarette butts. These will be wall mounted and placed on the main streets. We are very grateful to Century Homes for their generous sponsorship

WILDLIFE
We received responses to our article last week appealing from a few people interested in wildlife, particularly birds and fish. We'd like to hear from more people and we can play a role in developing interesting activities if we know who are interested.

AN TAISCE
The An Taisce website contains a detailed commentary on on Longford town and is well worth a visit... view site

OUR OWN WEBSITE
We are still developing this site and we'd love to hear what you think of the site so far, and let us have your suggestions.

BYPASS & APPROACH ROADS
We appeal to elected representatives and the Executive to take action on removing litter from the bypass and approach roads - these areas form the first impression of Longford. The involvement of volunteers to do continue this work is simply not sustainable. The Athlone Road and Connaught Road also need significant improvements. Longford Town will not get decent tidy town marks until these two particular approach areas are looked after and developed by the County Council.

ST PATRICK'S DAY PARADE
We are looking for people who would be prepared to organise a parade entry which promotes tidiness or the environment or wildlife or green schools or anti litter. Maybe you would be willing to help a group which is planning an entry? Contact us soon please.

TEMPERANCE HALL & ST JOHN'S CHURCH
The wonderful improvements to these two important buildings are a major contribution to the visual appearance of Longford Town. We congratulate all involved.
